چکیده

Target localization is an important issue for many applications in wireless sensor networks. However, it is rather difficult to maintain the localization accuracy in mixed line-of-sight (LOS) and non-lineof-sight (NLOS) environments as NLOS propagation leads to larger error than what LOS does. In this paper, we propose a new target localization method in mixed environments where NLOS is dominant and only one base node might be in LOS toward target. We use the cooperation between receiver nodes and the direction of arrival (DOA) of received signals to estimate the target’s location. The proposed cooperative target localization method tries to identify a base node that has LOS with respect to target node and use the LOS information for precise positioning of target node. We simulate the proposed method to analyze its performance. Simulation results confirm that our proposed method improves the localization accuracy on average by 20 percent in comparison with traditional cooperative methods.

Angle of arrival (AOA)-based Cross-localization Algorithm using Orientation Angle for Improved Target Estimation in Far-field Environments

Passive positioning systems with a small aperture array exhibit poor accuracy of target estimation in far-field environments. To improve this accuracy, this paper presents a novel angle-of-arrival (AOA)-based cross-localization algorithm for direction finding using orientation angle. Improved geometric and numerical target-positioning models are constructed after analyzing the mechanism of the ...

Three Dimensional Localization of an Unknown Target Using Two Heterogeneous Sensors

Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks consist of some different types of sensor nodes deployed in a particular area. Different sensor types can measure different quantity of a source and using the combination of different measurement techniques, the minimum number of necessary sensors is reduced in localization problems. In this paper, we focus on the single source localization in a heterogene...

Determination of mobile localization with time of arrival (TOA) signal is a requirement in cellular mobile communication. In some of the previous methods, localization with non-line-of-sight (NLOS) paths can lead to large position error. Also for simplicity, in most simulations suppose non stationary actual environments as stationary. This paper proposes (residual test + recursive least square)...

Cooperative DoA-only localization of primary users in cognitive radio networks

In this paper, we investigate localization techniques based on direction-of-arrival (DoA) measurements to estimate the position of primary users in cognitive radio networks. In the proposed approach, different multi-antenna sensors estimate the DoA of a primary signal by subspace-based techniques and the target position is estimated from the available DoA measurements using maximum-likelihood, ...

An Improved Time-Reversal-Based Target Localization for Through-Wall Microwave Imaging

Recently, time reversal (TR) method, due to its high functionality in heterogeneous media has been widely employed in microwave imaging (MI) applications. One of the applications turning into a great interest is through-wall microwave imaging (TWMI). In this paper, TR method is applied to detect and localize a target obscured by a brick wall using a numerically generated data. Regarding this, i...
